Every year, thousands of children become victims of child abuse and neglect.  Prevention is critical - but equally critical is what happens to child victims once they disclose.   In the past, children who disclosed abuse were taken on a journey through the response system and interviewed on multiple, sequential occasions. 

Today, there is SungateKids.  SungateKids, serving the 18th Judicial District in the Denver area, is a child-focused facility-based program in which representatives from many disciplines, including law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy work together to conduct interviews and make team decisions about investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of child abuse cases.  Child victims are brought to SungateKids shortly after the time of the crime and we serve as an unbiased resource to the law enforcement and child protective services agencies by providing forensic interviews.

SungateKids is an accredited chapter of the National Children's Alliance.
